Abstract
The site of Ti in LiNbO3 was studied by means of gamma-gamma perturbed angular correlation and the PIXE-channelling technique. It is found t hat, after in-diffusion, Ti is situated in the oxygen octahedron norma lly occupied by a Li ion. However, evidence for association with a def ect or slight displacement from the ideal site is observed.
