Based on subsurface composition data, an enhanced oil recovery option
has been surveyed based on a surfactant solution used as a displacing
agent. Employment of surfactants at initial field development stages i
s shown to reduce final oil recovery since we encounter with higher oi
l viscosity in the intake area due to accumulation of surfactants rele
ased from pore channels. Use of surfactants at later field development
stages can result in poor performance also thus necessitating to defi
ne an optimum time that they are used.
