Abstract
A Phylogenetic tree of six species in the Berberidaceae based on parti al sequences of the nuclear gene for glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydr ogenase (gapA) shows that the Berberidaceae is a distinctly monophylet ic group, and divided into three clades:Nandina-Caulophyllum, Mahonia- Ranzania, Epimedium-Diphylleia.
