Abstract
Two distinct mesozonal lithotectonic units are defined in Terre Adelie : a western metasedimentary migmatitic unit formed during a Palaeoprot erozoic thermal and tectonic event, and an eastern meta-igneous unit, which underwent a longer evolution, starting during late Archean times . These units were tectonically joined between 1.7 and 1.5 Ga (basemen t cratonization). No Pan-African imprint was detected. The previous re gional syntheses may be questioned as they assumed a major Late Archea n granulite event and the extension of a Pan-African prograde metamorp hic gradient.
