Dc. Nambiar et Vm. Shinde, SOLVENT EXTRACTIVE SEPARATION OF MANGANESE(II) WITH TRIS(2-ETHYLHEXYL) PHOSPHATE, Analytical letters, 29(1), 1996, pp. 141-152
A method is developed for the extraction of manganese(II) from salicyl
ate solution with Tris(2-ethylhexyl)phosphate as extractant. Manganese
is extracted quantitatively from 7xl0(-1)mol/l salicylate solution at
a pH 5.2-5.6 with 1.28mol/l Tris(2-ethylhexyl)phosphate (dissolved in
toluene). The probable extracted species as ascertained by logD-logC
plots is Mn(HSal)(2)2T2EHP. The method permits separation of manganese
(II) from commonly associated elements and has been extended for the s
eparation and determination of manganese in alloys, pharmaceuticals an
d environmental samples.
