Ia. Avrutskaya et al., BEHAVIOR OF ORGANIC-COMPONENTS OF ROUGH BIOMASS DURING ELECTROLYSIS OF CHLORIDE SOLUTIONS, Russian journal of electrochemistry, 32(1), 1996, pp. 68-71
Oxidation of a lignocarbohydrate complex (LCC) of rough biomass, straw
for example, during electrolysis of sodium chloride leads to partial
lignin removal, ensuring their efficient use as fodder and a substrate
for fermentation. The conclusion is drawn that the main contribution
to oxidation of both the straw LCC and the products of its destruction
in solution is made by hulk reactions involving hypochlorous acid and
hypochlorite.
