Eleven species of tardigrades are recorded from the National Park of K
ilimanjaro (Tanzania). Two of these species, Minibiotus africanus and
Doryphoribius maranguensis, are new to science. Echiniscus scabrospino
sus Fontoura 1982, Macrobiotus snaresensis Horning et al. 1978, and It
aquascon umbellinae Barros 1939 are new to the African fauna. Minibiot
us africanus n. sp, has little circular and bigger elliptical cuticula
r perlae; two macroplacoids present; microplacoid absent. Doryphoribiu
s maranguensis n. sp. has about 20 transverse undulations, irregularly
shaped tubercles and, caudally, some indistinct gibbosities. Two macr
oplacoids present; microplacoid present.
