Y. Rozenman et al., CONGENITAL CORONARY ARTERIOVENOUS-MALFORMATIONS - ARE THEY TRULY CONGENITAL, Catheterization and cardiovascular diagnosis, 37(2), 1996, pp. 166-167
We report a patient with ischemic chest pain due to obstructive corona
ry artery disease. The patient underwent a second cardiac catheterizat
ion 2 years later that revealed progression of the coronary disease an
d the appearance of a new arteriovenous malformation. Unless a prior a
ngiogram was available, this malformation would have been classified a
s congenital. This case report raises the question of whether all cong
enital arteriovenous malformations are truly congenital. (C) 1996 Wile
