Kk. Cornell et al., EXTRAHEPATIC BILIARY OBSTRUCTION SECONDARY TO DIAPHRAGMATIC-HERNIA IN2 CATS, The Journal of the American Animal Hospital Association, 29(6), 1993, pp. 502-507
Two cats with icterus had extrahepatic biliary tract obstruction secon
dary to diaphragmatic hernia. Diagnosis was supported by,.serum bioche
mical analysis and radiographic and ultrasonographic findings, and con
firmed by exploratory celiotomy. Return of displaced organs into the p
eritoneal cavity and repair of the diaphragmatic rent led to complete
recovery in both cases. Surgical intervention may result in a favorabl
e outcome in cats with posthepatic icterus secondary to diaphragmatic
hernia.
