P. Reiller et al., EXTRACTION AND RELEASE OF METAL-IONS BY MICELLAR-ENHANCED ULTRAFILTRATION - INFLUENCE OF COMPLEXATION AND PH, Journal of colloid and interface science, 177(2), 1996, pp. 519-527
The ionic exchange (IE) model has been used to predict the influence o
f positive metal ion complexation upon micellar-enhanced ultrafiltrati
on (MEUF) results, The three different systems studied were sodium dod
ecyl sulfate-ethylene diamine tetra-acetic acid (EDTA)-Cu(II); SDS-Tar
trate ion-Cu(II), and the hydrolysis of the uranyl ion-SDS, In the app
ropriate experimental conditions, 98% of Cu(II) is recovered in the fi
ltrate with the use of EDTA, The IE model allows for the accurate pred
iction of Cu(II) release by the addition of tartrate ion as a function
of pH. In the case of uranyl ion hydrolysis, the IE model showed that
the UO2(OH)(2) species is not predominant under the experimental cond
itions. (C) 1996 Academic Press, Inc.
