S. Salhi et al., STUDY OF ENERGY-TRANSFER BETWEEN PORPHYRIN AND CHLORIN GRAFTED ON POLYSTYRENE, Reactive & functional polymers, 26(1-3), 1995, pp. 209-220
Radical copolymerisation of styrene and n-5-(-4-acrylamidophenyl)-10,1
5,20-phenylporphyrin (Zn-ATPP) is reported. The copolymer is character
ized using visible, IR, proton and C-13 NMR spectroscopies as well as
elemental analysis. In this polymer a nonnegligible amount of Zn-chlor
in is present which is titrated using absorption coefficients of Zn-ch
lorin prepared as described in literature. Films of different polymers
such as polystyrene, statistical polystyrene-co-polyvinylpyridine and
a sequenced polymer, poly(vinyl-2-pyridine)-block-polystyrene contain
ing the monomer or the radical copolymer are studied. Absorption and f
luorescence spectra are studied in solution and in films and compared
to the spectra of Zn tetraphenyl porphyrin (Zn-TPP). The energy transf
er between porphyrin (P) and chlorin (C) are shown to be dependent on
the polarity of the polymer matrix.
