Abstract
Chemical equations describing binary and multicomponent ion exchange s ystems are discussed in this paper, and corresponding thermodynamic eq uilibrium constants and activity coefficients for counterions in assoc iation with an equivalent oppositely charged framework of ion exchange r are derived.
