KINETIC-STUDY ON THE HYDROLYSIS OF THIAZOLIUM CATIONS

Using the stopped-flow technique the hydrolysis of ten differently sub stituted thiazolium cations has been studied. For all compounds the hy drolysis follows the same reaction scheme leading to a ring-opened ani on. A pseudo base, the protonated pseudo base and the protonated ring- opened anion exist as intermediates. Rate and equilibrium constants we re determined for the different steps involved in the reaction.
