Simple molecular building blocks for creating supramolecular architect
ures in the crystal lattice are described. Combination of hydrogen bon
ding and alkyl chain crystallization is used to explore self-assembly(
1) of molecular building blocks 1, 2, 3 and 4 in the crystal lattice.
The crystal lattice of pure acids and its equimolar mixtures with bifu
nctional hydrogen bond accepters are characterized by singe crystal an
alysis.
