Abstract
A smooth and convenient one step synthesis of ',N'''-tetra-(2-carboxye thyl)-tetraazacycloalkanes is reported. These compounds are synthesize d by Michael addition of tetraazacycloalkanes to acrylic acid. The sam e Michael addition of tetraazacycloalkanes to an excess of acrylonitri le also leads to the corresponding tetracyanoethylated derivatives. Th e reduction of such tetracyanoethylated compounds is a new way of prep aration for the corresponding primary amines.
