M. Aboujaoude et al., PSEUDOANEURYSM OF THE PROPER HEPATIC-ARTERY WITH DUODENAL FISTULA APPEARING AS A LATE COMPLICATION OF BLUNT ABDOMINAL-TRAUMA, The journal of trauma, injury, infection, and critical care, 40(1), 1996, pp. 123-125
Posttraumatic pseudoaneurysms of the hepatic artery are rare and usual
ly occur as a complication of open abdominal trauma. Even less common
is the coexisting presence of enteric fistulization. We report a patie
nt with upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage occurring 3 years after blun
t abdominal trauma resulting from a pseudoaneurysm of the proper hepat
ic artery with duodenal fistulization. The patient was treated success
fully by ligation of the proper hepatic artery and closure of the duod
enal opening.
