Abstract
This paper presents implementation details describing a new design of a real-time digital simulator for relay testing. The simulator is deve loped under requirements to utilize as much as possible the low cost c ommercial computer hardware and system software support. The other req uirements ask for a three-terminal support with extensive Graphical Us er Interface (GUI) and the simulation time step as low as 50 mu s. Suc h a design has been built for Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) and fully validated using a model of an actual WAPA system section. T he simulator was delivered to WAPA in March 1994.
