G. Ferguson et al., TRIBENZYLTIN ACETATE, A REDETERMINATION, Acta crystallographica. Section C, Crystal structure communications, 51, 1995, pp. 2546-2548
This redetermination of the structure of tribenzyltin acetate, [Sn(C2H
3O2)(C7H7)(3)], has confirmed the structure determined previously from
photographic data [Alcock & Timms (1968). J. Chem. Soc. A, pp. 1873-1
876], but the molecular dimensions reported here are an order of magni
tude more precise. The structure is polymeric with bridging unsymmetri
c acetate groups [Sn-O 2.1309 (15) and 2.5592 (16) Angstrom, O-Sn-O 16
9.54 (5)degrees, and C-O 1.281 (3) and 1.239 (2) Angstrom]. Distorted
trigonal bipyramidal coordination at Sn is completed by three benzyl g
roups [Sn-C 2.139-2.161 (2) Angstrom].
