The X-ray structures of six substituted thiazolidine-2-thiones are pre
sented: trans-4,5-dimethylthiazolidine-2-thione, C5H9NS2, (1), cis-4,5
-dimethylthiazolidine-2-thione, C5H9NS2, (2), cis-3,4,5-trimethylthiaz
olidine-2-thione, C6H11NS2, (3), 4-methylthiazolidine-2-thione, C4H7NS
2, (4), 4-tert-butylthiazolidine-2-thione, C7H13NS2, (5), 3-isopropylt
hiazolidine-2-thione, C6H11NS2, (6). In this series the observed torsi
on angle S1-C5-C4-N3 (tau) varies from 22.5 (6) to 34.4 (8)degrees for
compounds (1)-(5) and is equal to 9.7 (7)degrees for the 3-isopropyl-
substituted compound (6). In compound (6), the C4-C5 distance is equal
to 1,454 (5)Angstrom, while it is in the range 1.513 (6)-1.54 (2)Angs
trom in the other five structures.
