Abstract
Strain SCH3 was previously found to adhere well to HEp-2 and Caco-2 ce lls in addition to agglutinating human red blood cells, and was chosen for further study. After electron microscopy showed the presence of f ilamentous appendages, methods were used to purify them. Although we f ound the most suitable cultural conditions for maximal filamentous app endage expression, purification proved difficult as there were at leas t three different types of filamentous appendages produced.
