The development of appropriate procedures to maximise data quality and to make accurate data corrections is vital if reliable structural dat a are to be obtained at high pressure. As a result, the development of the Paris-Edinburgh high-pressure neutron cell has included considera ble effort on neutron-scattering techniques. The procedures developed are described, and their importance in obtaining accurate structural i nformation at high pressure is illustrated by recent results.
