Abstract
Non-enolisable aldehydes(I) and active methylene compounds (II) react in the presence of tellurium(IV) tetrachloride (catalytic) to give the corresponding proportional to, beta-unsaturated carbonyl compounds (I II) in excellent yields and high purity.
