The fluorescent spectra of nanostructured Al2O3 after heat-treating at
different temperatures have been systematically investigated. The res
ults show that for eta-Al2O3 and gamma-Al2O3, two broad fluorescent ba
nds P-1 and P-2 appear in the wavenumber range of 20000 cm(-1) to 1150
0 cm(-1) and P-1 and P-2 bands are located in the wavenumber range of
20000 cm(-1) to 14500 cm(-1) and 14500 cm(-1) to 11500 cm(-1), respect
ively. The P-1 band can be attributed to the impurity Cr3+ luminescenc
e. This is consistent with other author's result for the Cr doped Al2O
3. The P-2 band is a new fluorescent phenomenon, which has not been re
ported previously. In this paper, the condition of the appearance of P
-2 and its mechanism is discussed in detail.
