Abstract
Irradiation of o-vinylbenzaldehyde la affords the oxygen-bridged dimer 7a, presumably, through an initial [pi2a + pi4s] rearrangement; inter mediacy of spiro triene 6 is supported by deuterium labelling experime nts which also reveal the reversible nature of the concurrently,occurr ing 1,5-hydrogen shift (1 reversible 2).
