M. Elfray et J. Slonecki, MULTIBLOCK COPOLYMERS CONSISTING OF POLYESTER AND POLYALIPHATIC BLOCKS, Die Angewandte makromolekulare Chemie, 234, 1996, pp. 103-117
Multiblock-(AB)(n)-copolymers, consisting of hard segments of poly(but
ylene terephthalate) (PET) and soft segments of dimerized fatty acid w
ere synthesized and analysed with DSC and DMTA. The polymers were char
acterized by their limiting viscosity number and melt flow index. The
glass transition temperature (T-g) and melting temperature (T-m) incre
ase with decreasing weight fraction of the dimerized fatty acid and wi
th the increase of the crystalline phase content. It was found that th
e elasticity (epsilon) depends on the content of dimerized fatty acid
in the amorphous phase. Tensile properties were described as a functio
n of the degree of polycondensation P-k (molecular weight).
