Z. Petyko et al., CENTRAL PROJECTIONS OF TOMOSVARY ORGAN IN LITHOBIUS-FORFICATUS (CHILOPODA, LITHOBIIDAE), Cell and tissue research, 283(2), 1996, pp. 331-334
Afferents of Tomosvary's organ innervate multiple synaptic sites withi
n the ipsilateral protocerebrum, i.e. neuropil areas proximal to the 2
nd optic neuropil, in the dorsolateral protocerebrum? and surrounding
the pedunculus of the ''mushroom bodies''. Sensory input via Tomosvary
's organ in Lithobius appears to follow a peculiar neuronal pathway by
passing the deutocerebrum and tritocerebrum which are innervated by ma
ny head sensilla in arthropods.
