Abstract
A system has been developed for the automated analysis of organic expl osive residues by high-performance liquid chromatography with a pendan t mercury drop electrode detector (HPLC-PMDE), Previously it was only possible to deoxygenate samples manually, prior to HPLC-PMDE analysis. Using a programmable autoinjector and a universal switching valve wit h on-line nitrogen, this process has been automated. The automated sys tem has been successfully applied to the routine analysis of casework samples.
