Sf. Oreshkova et al., DETECTION OF INFECTIOUS BOVINE-RHINOTRACH EITIS VIRUS BY HYBRIDIZATION WITH NONRADIOACTIVE DNA PROBES, Voprosy virusologii, 40(6), 1995, pp. 279-282
Biotin-labeled DNA probes for infectious bovine rhinotracheitis virus
also known as bovine herpesvirus-1 (BHV-1) have been developed. nle pr
ocedure: is based on dot-blot hybridization using biotin-labeled bacte
riophage M13 and plasmid probes containing cloned PstI and EcoRI-PstI
restriction fragments of viral genome, Tile probes obtained were used
to detect viral nucleic acids in specimens of bovine spermatic fluid o
r nasal swabs of calves. The method is simple and rapid, taking less t
han 24 h, and is highly specific and sensitive, this recommending it f
or practical veterinary.
