Abstract
Progress in the sequence determination of dynein subunits is providing new insights into the locations of functional domains in these microt ubule motors. Combined structural and biochemical analyses of flagella r mutations are also yielding information on the three-dimensional org anization of the dynein arms and on the different components that targ et dynein arm assembly. Physiological approaches are revealing multipl e pathways that regulate dynein activity.
