Abstract
This paper deals with the chromatic dispersion measurement of multiple -fiber sections concatenated with narrowband linear amplifier repeater (s). This scheme sinusoidally modulates the phase, not the light ampli tude, at the transmitter in order to suppress undesirable nonlinear ef fects. At the receiver, relative amplitude of transformed intensity mo dulation directly indicates the dispersion value for the entire span o f the multiple-fiber section. The limit of measurability is analyzed, and an experimental demonstration is presented.
