Abstract
Allium ritsii IATROU & TZANOUDAKIS from the area of Monemvasia in S. P eloponnisos is described as a new species. It is an autumn-flowering s pecies closely related to Allium cupani RAFIN. subsp. hirtovaginatum ( KUNTH) STEARN (A. sect. Brevispatha), but well differentiated ecologic ally, morphologically and cytologically from the other Mediterranean t axa of this group.
