Abstract
The acoustic scattering rate of the carriers in a two-dimensional elec tron gas is calculated here under the condition of low temperature whe n the approximations of the well-known traditional theory are not vali d. The results of numerical calculations are presented for GaAs and Si . The results are interesting in that they are significantly different from those that follow from the traditional theory.
