Abstract
HD 483 is a double-lined spectroscopic binary system with an eccentric orbit whose period is 23 1/2 days. It has featured in the literature as a Hertzsprung-gap giant of spectral type G(2) III, but we think tha t it has been misclassified and is really a pair of main-sequence star s of approximately solar type. The inclination is thought to be high, but there are no eclipses.
