S. Saraf et Vk. Dixit, INFLUENCE OF ELECTRICAL FACTORS ON IN-VITRO IONTOPHORETIC DELIVERY OFTIMOLOL MALEATE, Drug development and industrial pharmacy, 22(2), 1996, pp. 175-179
The in vitro iontophoretic delivery of timolol maleate (TM) was carrie
d out using a modified two-chambered, horizontal diffusion cell. The e
ffect of various electrical factors on iontophoretic permeation of dru
g was analyzed. The iontophoretic permeation of TM through human cadav
er skin was more greatly enhanced than the passive permeation. The inc
rease in current intensity linearly increased the permeation of drug.
The sine wave form showed the highest permeation than other waveforms
used. Pulsed mode iontophoresis seems to be more efficient than consta
nt current drug permeation through skin.
