W. Mistiaen et al., PANCREATIC-SECRETION AFTER ANTERIOR GASTRIC WALL STAPLING WITH POSTERIOR TRUNCAL VAGOTOMY IN DOGS, European surgical research, 28(2), 1996, pp. 154-161
Anterior gastric stapling with posterior truncal vagotomy has previous
ly been investigated for its effect on canine gastric acid reduction a
nd motility. Posterior truncal vagotomy could, however, induce reduced
pancreatic function, which has been observed after total abdominal va
gotomy. In this study, pancreatic secretion has been investigated afte
r anterior gastric stapling with posterior truncal vagotomy in a serie
s of canine experiments by means of a stimulation test. On the long te
rm, no significant postoperative reduction of exocrine pancreatic secr
etion was observed.
