VULNERABLE CONTINENT OR SECURE COMMUNITY - WESTERN-EUROPE IN THE 21STCENTURY

The end of the Cold War has proved to be neither the end of history no r the end of Western Europe's vulnerabilities. While predictions for a full century are certainly rash, what can be seen of the opening year s of the coming century suggests that a relatively rich and successful Europe will still be subject to external challenges and perhaps event ually threats.
