Emission spectra of the 0-0 bands of the a(1) Delta --> X (3) Sigma(-)
transitions of PH and PD have been observed in the near-infrared spec
tral region near 1.33 mu m. The phosphorus hydride radicals were gener
ated and excited in a fast-flow system by the reaction of phosphorus v
apor with hydrogen or deuterium atoms. The NIR chemiluminescence was m
easured with a Fourier-transform spectrometer equipped with a Ge detec
tor. Analyses of the bands have yielded spectroscopic constants of the
a(1) Delta, upsilon = 0 states (in cm(-1)): PH: nu(00) = 7555.0779(8)
, B-0 - 8.43993(8), D-0 = 0.0004362(7); PD: nu(00) = 7551.8938(6), B-0
= 4.37667(4), D-0 = 0.0001170(2), where the numbers in parentheses ar
e the standard deviations of the parameters.
