Mm. Sharma, ORCHESTRATION OF CHEMISTRY, CHEMICAL-TECHNOLOGY, AND CHEMICAL-ENGINEERING FOR FINE CHEMICALS, Journal of Scientific & Industrial Research, 55(2), 1996, pp. 97-105
The manufacture of fine chemicals places different demands on chemists
, chemical technologists and chemical engineers and it is essential to
orchestrate their strengths from the outset. Many examples, pertainin
g to the manufacture of isobutyl benzene/ibuprofen, triaryl phosphates
, alkylated phenols, intermediate for Roundup, 4,4'-dihydroxy diphenyl
, hydroquinone/catechol/resorcinol, and aromatic/aliphatic amines, are
cited. Aspects of mixing, including, micromixing, the utility of dist
illation column reactor, conversion of single liquid phase to multipha
se reactions, and reaction-cystallisation, have been covered. The inte
ractions are mutally beneficial and provides a broader range of option
s and more powers to solve various problems in the shortest possible t
ime.
