Ty. Wang et al., MIXED CONVECTION FROM A ROTATING CONE WITH VARIABLE SURFACE-TEMPERATURE, Numerical heat transfer. Part A, Applications, 25(1), 1994, pp. 75-83
A general analysis of steady laminar mixed convection heat transfer be
tween a quiescent fluid and a rotating or nonrotating cone is presente
d. A new mixed convection parameter, which also represents a dimension
less streamwise coordinate, is proposed to serve as an index of the re
lative contributions of free convection and rotational (forced) convec
tion. Appropriate coordinate transformations yield computationally eff
icient numerical solutions which are uniformly valid over the entire r
ange of mixed convection from the pure free convection limit (nonrotat
ing cone) to the pure forced convection limit (rotating cone). Of part
icular interest are the effects of the fluid Prandtl number, the power
function index (nonisothermal factor), and mixed convection parameter
on the local skin friction coefficient and the local Nusselt number.
