Abstract
There are thousands of agents that are added to the food we consume an d the pharmaceuticals we ingest. Fortunately, only a small number have been associated with hypersensitivity reactions. This article examine s these agents. Background information concerning these chemicals and the mechanisms by which they may provoke reactions are discussed. The association between these agents and urticarial and asthmatic reaction s is discussed.
