Refering to Riihimaa's classification of Jovian S-bursts, type f displ
ays both positive and negative drift rates. By simulating the structur
e of a typical type f burst, we discuss the fitting of the instantaneo
us drift rate of a given S-burst as a function of the frequency in the
frame of trapped electrons hypothesis. We show that it is not possibl
e to fit this drift rate for fixed values of the pitch angle and the e
nergy of the electrons generating the burst.
