Abstract
The present article describes the use of a unified eigenmode approach for the analysis of the symmetrical N-port microstrip ring coupler (wh ere N can take on any positive integer value). Experimental tests on s ample prototypes have confirmed that the resultant model is able to ac curately predict the performance characteristics of this family of cou plers.
