Magnetization and ferromagnetic resonance experiments are performed on
Fe/Zr superlattices. The results M(H) give evidence for both biquadra
tic (BM(s)(2) = -6 x 10(-7) J/cm(2)) and bilinear (JM(s)(2) = -25 x 10
(-7) J/cm(2)) contributions to the total coupling energy. It is sugges
ted that the biquadratic term could arise from local fluctuations in t
he concentration of the chemically disordered Fe/Zr interface.
