Abstract
We determine the influence of the Kosterlitz-Thouless transition on th e stability of doubly spin-polarized atomic hydrogen adsorbed on a sup erfluid helium film and find that the lifetime of the ps is enhanced d ramatically in the superfluid phase. Moreover, the relevant rate const ants have a discontinuous behavior at the critical point. The observat ion of these effects is an unambiguous way to establish the achievemen t of the phase transition experimentally.
