HETEROGENEOUS CATALYTIC SYNTHESIS OF ALKA NETHIOL AND DIALKYL SULFIDES FROM ALCOHOLS AND HYDROGEN-SULFIDE

The present paper reviews the studies concerning heterogeneous acid-ba se catalysis of alcohols interaction with hydrogen sulfide producing a lkanethiols and dialkyl sulfides. It also discussed the data on the ca talysts activity and selectivity under reaction conditions. A relation ship between the catalytic performance and acid-base properties of cat alysts is considered. The mechanism of thiolation is discussed as well as criteria for efficient catalysts selections.
