Paa. Loof et al., A REVISED POLYTOMOUS KEY FOR THE IDENTIFICATION OF SPECIES OF THE GENUS XIPHINEMA COBB, 1913 (NEMATODA, LONGIDORIDAE) WITH EXCLUSION OF THEXIPHINEMA-AMERICANUM-GROUP .2., Systematic parasitology, 33(1), 1996, pp. 23-29
Thirty-one species and one subspecies have been described since public
ation of the first supplement to the polytomous key to Xiphinema spp.
(see Loof & Luc, 1993). Of these, 11 species belonging to the ''X. ame
ricanum-group'' are not considered here. Of the 20 remaining species,
13 are considered valid, for which identification codes are given. Thr
ee species were described earlier, but had not come to authors' notice
; two of them, X. chothecolla and X. clavatus (sie) have already been
synonymised with X. radicicola (see Luc & Loof, 1993); codes are given
for the third species, X. codiaei. Xiphinema adenohystherum, X. cohni
, X. macrogastrum, X. nuragicum and X. sphaerocephalum were considered
junior synonyms of X. pyrenaicum by Baujard et al. (1996); X. hunanie
nse is considered a junior synonym of X. radicicola and X. hispanum of
X. aceri. Changes in the group and/or identification codes are made f
or X. aceri, X. barense, X. dentatum, X. diversicaudatum, X. filicauda
tum filicaudatum, X. globosum, X. hardingi, X. paritaliae (= X, dolosu
m), X. paulistanum, X. pyrenaicum and X. transkeiense. The specific na
me X. swarti is emended to X. swartae. Information is given for comput
erisation of the key.
