M. Panayotova, THE MOTOR-VEHICLES - A SIGNIFICANT CAUSE FOR AIR-POLLUTION IN BIG TOWNS OF BULGARIA, Journal of environmental science and health. Part A: Environmental science and engineering, 31(1), 1996, pp. 157-165
Taking as an example the Bulgarian capital (Sofia town) an attempt has
been made to emphasize on the ''contribution'' of motor transport to
the air pollution. By comparing the data from air monitiring stations
situated in different areas of the town (city centre, industrial region
s and residental quarters) it has been estimated that motor vehicles a
re the major source of CO, hydrocarbons (CnHm), PAH's and Pb-aerosols
and a significant source of NOx,SO(?)2,CO2 and vapours of dangerous or
ganic compounds.
