Jm. Casado et Jj. Mejias, ON THE TRANSITION FROM NONDISPERSIVE TO DISPERSIVE CHARGE-TRANSPORT IN THE MONTE-CARLO SIMULATION OF DISORDERED-SYSTEMS, Philosophical magazine. B. Physics of condensed matter. Structural, electronic, optical and magnetic properties, 69(1), 1994, pp. 39-46
The role of energy disorder in a Monte Carlo simulation of charge tran
sport in a finite sample of a disordered material is analysed. Using a
simple model we show that energy (diagonal) disorder does not seem to
be the primary cause of the transition from non-dispersive to dispers
ive behaviour of the carriers in time-of-flight (TOF) experiments. The
role played by the position at which the carriers are generated and a
lso the influence of the finite length of the sample in the existence
of the transition are shown. Some consequences for the interpretation
of TOF data using Monte Carlo simulation methods are suggested.
