AN INEXPENSIVE ANALOG-TO-DIGITAL SYSTEM FOR COMPUTER-ASSISTED MEASUREMENT OF ELECTRONIC MONITORING WAVE-FORMS

We describe a computerized system that combines the capabilities of th ree commercially available computer programs to speed quantification a nd analysis of waveform data from electronic insect feeding monitors. Our system enables users to acquire voltage data in a digital format, then display waveforms and measure their durations using computer prog rams for the IBM-compatible personal computer. Cost of the analog-to-d igital board plus software is approximately $1,000. For many experimen tal or teaching situations, our system can provide most of the feature s of much more expensive commercial programs that accomplish similar t asks.
