Abstract
An epitype specimen is designated for Pleurotus ostreatus, together wi th description of the specimen, monokaryon and dikaryon cultures, tetr apolar mating system, and results of interspecific mating recognition experiments. Isoepitype specimens are deposited at WU, TENN, NY and K, and batteries of tester strains are deposited in several culture coll ections worldwide.
